STEELHEAD FLIES WITH DREW ROSEMA – FRIDAY FEB 5 AT 7:30PM:

Once again this year we are happy to welcome one of the most dedicated and successful steelhead guides on the Muskegon (or anywhere else come to think of it) River, Drew Rosema, to host a fly tying demo here at the shop.

Drew currently guides for Feenstra Guide Service and spends most of his time fishing on the Muskegon, but to quote the guide service’s bio, “Drew is a talented guide with a remarkable amount of guiding experience in a variety of rivers – ranging from Michigan to Wyoming to Alaska.”

Come join us for a great demo! Drew’s steelhead fly patterns tend to be relatively simple to tie and incredibly fishy so they’re hard to beat! Come learn to tie some steelie patterns that are absolute killers and that aren’t all that complicated – they focus on one thing: catching fish, and the fact that the simplicity allows the tier to whip out a pile of ’em in less time than it takes to tie just one of many of today’s overly-complicated, overly-hyped “fancy” patterns that look impressive in the artistic sense but lack the ability to put fish to net.

PREDATOR FLIES WITH JON RAY – FRIDAY FEBRUARY 19TH AT 7:30PM
“Captain Jon Ray has been fly-fishing for the past 23 years and has guided fly anglers in Michigan with Hawkins Outfitters for the past 12 years. Jon’s first love is chasing trout, steelhead, small-mouth bass and muskie with streamers. Guiding anglers with single or two-handed rods with a variety of techniques. The Upper & Lower Manistee, Bestie & the many miles of shoreline along Grand Traverse Bay are among his favorite hunts. Jon Ray brings all this experience to your fishing day with an enthusiasm that is contagious. Jon is totally focused on helping his clients land that trophy chrome steelhead or large wary brown trout of your dreams. His love for photography can be viewed at Mangled Fly, as he tries to capture the many memories that the river provides, also follow Jon Ray’s blog for additional video’s and photo’s. Jon Ray co-authored the DVD, Big Appetite Smallmouth”
