Fall weather is finally here, and since it also came with spring like rainfall, steelhead season has really picked up. The water has started to come down and is currently flowing at 4440 CFS with the gage height at 7 1/2 feet. Water temps also experience a decline from 61 degrees on Monday to 57 […]
Lots of fish in river now, Salmon, Steelhead and lake run Browns are all hot now, with this rain it will only get better. Most fish are keying on the eggs, both flies and beads.
Smallmouth fishing continues to produce. Larger streamers, crayfish patterns, goby patterns and poppers (during lower light times of day) can all produce fish. We are starting to see a few salmon scattered around and as the water temps drop we should start to see good pushes of them showing up.
Trout fishing is pretty tough right now Consumers Energy is letting water over the spillway so the water temps are high forcing the trout to look for cooler water and lay low. The Smallmouths are happy now and are being caught through the river system, streamers and crawfish patterns are working well
Got out last night streamer fishing after work last evening and even though the water was high (6000 CFS) enough to make things very difficult, we did hook one and have a couple others chase. It’s already come down to about 5000 CFS so it should be on for the next few weeks. The steelhead […]
There are still some numbers of steelhead but we are no doubt past the peak of the run. Even still, if you want to catch them, there are still very fishable numbers. More importantly though, the streamer bite for trout has picked up and should continue to provide awesome fishing right into the Gray Drake/Isonychia […]
Fishing has continued to be good and hopefully this rain we’ve been getting (rain and snow at once at the moment) will bring in a big push of fresh spring steelhead. The water level is currently at 5350cfs and climbing.
Spring has sprung and the Steelhead fishing has been excellent. We have been getting great reports from just about everyone who has been in over the past few days. Drifting beads, jigs or nymphs under a bobber with conventional or centerpin gear (or an “indicator” with a fly rod) has produced a lot of fish, […]

The class will be here at the shop at 7:00 PM on Friday January 27. Cost is $20 per person, which includes all […]
